Plus-Size Formalwear at Lara: Why We Never Upcharge

    At Lara, plus sizes aren't a special order and they aren't a markup. Every gown in our size range is priced exactly the same, no matter the size on the tag.

    Why this matters

    A lot of formalwear retailers quietly charge more for extended sizes — treating larger bodies as a surcharge instead of a standard customer. We think that's backwards. A bride, a mother of the bride, or a guest shouldn't pay a premium to find a dress that fits.

    What "no upcharge" actually means at Lara

    • Every size we carry is the same price, straight sizes through plus sizes.
    • Our stylists are trained to fit every body, not just sample sizes.
    • Alterations pricing (available at both our NYC and Mineola showrooms) is based on the work being done, not the starting size.

    The bigger picture

    This is a policy, not a promotion — it's how we've always priced our collection, and it's not changing. If you've been quoted more elsewhere for the same dress in a larger size, that's not how we do things.
